    • Rust is the common term for a series of iron oxides. The red oxide produced is caused by the air and oxygen combining with moisture. Rusting is the common term for corrosion of iron and it’s alloys, such as steel.

    • The RostFort range of rust converters bonds with the surface and provides a protective coating that will prevent moisture from coming into contact with the surface, thus preventing the oxidizing reaction from  occurring.

       

    • The RostFort range of rust converters can be applied without using RostPrep. Conventional surface preparation methods can be used.

    • There may be rust, dirt, oils and grime on the surface that will prevent the coating from undergoing the correct reaction with the metal surface.

    • The chemical compounds found in liquids like acid rain and sea water make them better electrolytes than pure water, allowing their presence to speed up the process of rusting on iron and other forms of corrosion on other metals.
